Writer drinking song

February 28, 2012 By Barbara 4 Comments

Yo ho yo ho, a writer’s life for me
we scribble and scrawl, delete almost all
Then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
We send out a query and wait for the call
Then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
Yo ho, yo ho, a writer’s life for me
We punctuate, conjugate, never abbreviate
and cry in our coffee, yo ho!
We strive to meet deadlines but sometimes we’re late
Then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
Yo ho, yo ho, a writer’s life for me
We write in a villain, to pick up the pace
Then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
Eventually kill him, it seems such a waste
Then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
Yo ho, yo ho, a writer’s life for me
We rarely get paid, we’re slaves to the trade
Then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
We work in our jammies, our bed is unmade
We cry in our coffee, yo ho!
Yo ho, yo ho, a writer’s life for me
We’ve written the novel, we’ll soon be a star
We’ll make so much money we’ll get a new car
Drink up your coffee, yo ho!
We upload to Amazon, wait for the check
We don’t understand when they don’t give a heck!
then cry in our coffee, yo ho!
Yo ho, yo ho, a writer’s life for me
I feel so depressed, I must get some rest
To cry in my coffee, yo ho!
A writer must suffer, to be the best
So cry in your coffee, yo ho!

Yo ho, yo ho, a writer’s life for me

I’ll be looking for you to don an eye patch and red kerchief…could be a great fashion fit!
And take encouragement, I just referred your books to 2 people last week, and another three a few weeks earlier.
Word is getting out, one happy reader at a time…

This post should have been an uploaded video of you singing (or rapping) this heartfelt song!
