Blake and Shelby Gunner came alive for me in a dream. Yes, that does happen now and again. I woke up from a vivid dream with characters I just needed to put into print. It wasn't a full fledged story, but basically the outline of a series. Blake was a detective and Shelby was a stage actress (In the off, off, off, off broadway of Mpls dinner theatre fame), but with a love for Shakespeare. They were from Minneapolis but would set up a private eye office (Double Barrel Investigations) in the little community of Port Scuttlebutt in the Upper Peninsula along Lake Superior. With these few facts, and a couple of beautiful roadtrips to the area up North for inspiration, I began to write.
Blake and Shelby are happily partnered in marriage and in sleuthing. They are protective of one another and the people they love. Blake has some family connections in Port Scuttlebutt that he is wary of and some old childhood friends that he quickly reconnects with. There plenty of danger, humor, and romance along the way as they investigate and solve local murders.
